Mouflon fights intensify as mating season approaches

With autumn approaching, male mouflons are clashing more often as they compete for dominance before the breeding season.

These confrontations are normal, but they can cause serious injuries when the animals' large horns become locked together. The Cyprus Game and Fauna Service says dead mouflons are sometimes discovered on cliffs after such encounters. When the horns get tangled, officers intervene to free the animals and return them safely to the wild, although the mouflons occasionally manage to separate on their own.

A recent video shows two males with their horns intertwined, displaying an unusual teamwork as they calm down and eventually free themselves before drinking water. The service described the scene as a rare example of cooperation.
